Quite obviously, royal palaces, towering forts, ancient temples, you name it, Pune has every kind of historical spot that silently conveys the stories of bygone eras.

            1. SHANIWAR WADA

To witness the glory and pride of the Marathas, you must visit Shaniwar Wada which is among the famous tourist places to visit in Maharashtra. From the remnants inside the area, you can hear about the stories of the Peshwas and the challenges that this palace had faced. Carefully check the towering stone boundaries and you will understand the level of security that was provided to protect this beautiful place.

           2.  LAL MAHAL 


LAL MAHAL 

It is a popular tourist destination of Pune. Lal Mahal actually was built by Shahajiraj Bhosale, father of Shivaji Maharaj for his wife Jijabai and son, in 1630 AD. Shivaji Maharaj spent 10 years of his childhood at the palace. The original Lal Mahal was present at the same place but since it was destroyed, the Pune Municipal Corporation rebuilt the palace in 1988.

           3. SHIVANERI FORT


SHIVANERI FORT

It is a birth place of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj located in Pune district near by Junnar.
It is a triangular fort and built on a hill and is well-maintained. A temple of Shivai goddess is present within the fort. There are mud walls all around the fort. There are many gates structures protecting this fort.      


          4. VISHARAMBAG WADA


VISHARAMBAG WADA

Vishrambagh Wada was built in 1807 for the Peshwa leaders of the Maratha Empire. The magnificent palace was built over six years and served as a splendid residence for the last of the Peshwas - Bajirao Peshwa II. The Vishrambagh Wada was beautifully designed and provided all the facilities to the aristocratic family.
